December 2, 2024 – The financial group GVC Gaesco and the venture capital firm Next Tier Ventures have teamed up to boost a line of venture capital funds aimed at investing in technology startups.

The first fund of this line, which has just received the approval of the CNMV, it will invest up to 50 million euros in startups linked to Artificial Intelligence (AI) and will support the selected companies from their start to mature stage. To that end, a fundraising process will be carried out in the coming months, basically targeted to family offices and Spanish and international private investors.

This first fund, with corporate name Next Tier GVC Gaesco S.C.R. S.A., is meant to achieve around 30-35 operations in B2B startups of Artificial Intelligence. The objective is to identify those projects where the technology impacts to help improve the lives of people and our industries. Opportunities will be sought, in terms of geographical scope, in Europe, the USA and Latin America, to optimise investment returns by means of rigorous selection, active involvement and tailored divestment strategies.

GVC Gaesco currently carries out its venture capital activity through Zamit I (multi-sector), Zamit Energy (centred in consolidated and growth potential industrial companies in Spain) and Itucap (venture capital investment in the early stages of development). “Our partnership with Next Tier Ventures stands for a further step in GVC Gaesco’s commitment to venture capital, thereby completing our range of investment products and meeting the growing demands from our customers,” explains Paco Illueca, investment director of GVC Gaesco. “The birth of this first AI-focused investment fund is only the very first of many to be released as a result of our collaboration with Next Tier Ventures”, he declares.

The new investment vehicle is led by Patricia Pastor and Ruben Colomer, co-founders of Next Tier Ventures, a venture capital company specialized in investing in artificial intelligence and B2B software companies. “Our goal is to create the longest Artificial Intelligence funds line from Spain. This technology will change our work styles and communication towards a faster and better world. Countries that invest in AI will become more competitive and grow faster,” states Patricia Pastor, general partner at Next Tier Fund.
